Health and Safety of Carnival
The IRN-BRU Carnival works with various bodies to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and staff. Your enjoyment goes hand and hand with your safety.
Ride & Attraction Safety
All rides, games and attractions are maintained to the highest standards. Each undergoes a thorough inspection by an independently certified body under the Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme (ADIPS), in close consultation with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
The Amusement Device Inspection Procedure Scheme is the fairground and amusement park industry’s own adopted standard for inspection and certification of fairground rides and amusement devices. Created by the major industry trade associations – in close consultation with the HSE – to improve safety standards and increase public confidence. The Carnvial ensures strong communication with an ADIPS Inspector if any problems arise during the event.
Each morning during the Carnival, the ride operators are required carry out appropriate maintenence and safety checks. The organisers are required to ensure these checks have been carried out prior to the event opening each day.

Training
Our operational staff and ride operators are fully trained in safety procedures, ensuring every experience is fun, secure and worry-free for visitors. The event is supported by the SEC's qualified Health and Event Safety team, working closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Annual training on health and safety is undertaken by the QD Events and SEC team, and this is refreshed to ensure all aspects of safety at Carnival is covered.
Medical Support
Following a full risk assessment, we provide on-site medical staff, including first aiders and first responders throughout the event.
Event Security
Event security is managed by G4S, a leading provider of professional security services. To help keep everyone safe, bag searches will be carried out upon arrival. This is a standard safety measure designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The Carnival and G4S work closely with the SEC's Health and Event Safety team, and have relationships with local Police Scotland departments to ensure the full venue is safe and secure for staff and visitors.
The SEC have a permanently staffed control room working 24/7 to manage and maintain site safety, security and traffic operation.
